Who’s Going to Be There: Elijah Wood will be doing a Q&A after the film

How Drunk Can You Get: You can drink away the trauma of watching Elijah Wood scalp women for a party in the bar after the film.

What’s the Deal with This Movie Anyway?: A remake of William Lustig’s chilly, violent cult classic, this version of Maniac is helmed by a pair of French filmmakers who have already made quite the mark on violent horror cinema: Franck Khalfoun, who directed the parking garage thriller P2; and Alexandre Aja who brought us High Tension, the surprisingly good Hills Have Eyes remake, and Piranha 3D, the greatest film ever made. Elijah Wood is this film’s maniac, a mannequin store owner named Frank with who struggles with violent psycho-sexual impulses. As he attempts a normal relationship with a woman, Frank’s obsessive wild side begins seeping more and more to the surface as he begins scalping, stabbing and slashing his way through dark L.A. streets.

When an argument escalates into violence, his mother has him dragged to a mental institution where the boy is left to wallow in depression and an over utilization of electro-shock therapy.
